12:27 pm - First Post of 2007
I know January is almost over and I'm just now posting.

Anyway here's what's going on in my life at the moment. I did get the job at Sears Federal Credit Union. I am working part-time as the Business Development Specialist. I hope it goes full-time in the future, I feel that there is a good possibility that it will. Especially since my hours have already increased slightly.

So far I am enjoying the job. I am going out and meeting with current Select Employee Groups (SEGs) and am working on coming up with new groups to approach about becoming a SEG. This week has been a busy week for me. Yesterday I was in Nashville all day at the TN Allstate agent's kick off meeting. The this morning I was down in Tunica, MS at the AR Allstate agents kick off meeting. They had a vendor fair for a couple of hours so I went to that. The tonight I will be at an agent reception for North MS and North LA Allstate agents. That is also in Tunica.

I am also still doing some babysitting and working the occasional Saturday at my friend Shannon's shop.

Things with David are going well. We are going to a dinner at my church on Sat. Then in Feb. were are going to Louisville, KY to celebrate his grandmother's 90 birthday. We may even be up in St. Louis one weekend in March.

Anyway I hope everyone is doing well. I will post again much sooner next time.

2:46 pm - Odds and Ends
Since it's been awhile I thought it was time for an update.

This was the first Thanksgiving that my family wasn't together. I missed them, but had a good Thanksgiving dinner with David's family. It was a great meal. David had to work at 2 that afternoon so I dropped him off at work and headed to St. Louis. My sister had invited my Aunt and Grandma for Thanksgiving so I got to see them as well. Also that weekend my friends Jennifer and Andrew had their daughter Catherine Baptized so I went to that.

Still waiting fore something on the job front. I have a second interview with Sears Federal Credit Union tomorrow about doing some Business Development part-time. Also the week of Thanksgiving I dropped my resume off at Southern Eye Associates here in Memphis. The directors son is a good friend of my sister Melissa and he told me they had just let some people go. I was talking to his mom and she said their marketing person is leaving in May. I'm still waiting to hear from them. I plan to follow-up this week. Probably after my interview tomorrow.

Anyway that about it for now. Things have been busy lately. I've been doing more babysitting. I still have to finish my Christmas shopping.

Well more later.

7:17 pm - Behind yet again
Well yet again I have fallen behind. So here's an update.

Things are still status quo. No new job yet. I just keep networking and following up on leads. I guess that's all I can do for now. I have gotten some more jobs through Annie's Nannies lately so that is good. I am also still working at Shannon's shop at least two days a week.

I haven't gotten any sub jobs yet. Maybe I will get some now that we are getting into the cold and flu season. I did have a lead on a part-time job that David's sister Jamie gave me. It would be doing business development for Sears Federal Credit Union. I met with the Bank manager and her Operations manager last week. I hope to hear something soon.

Any way tomorrow is my birthday. I will be turning 28. Anyway I will be working in the shop and then I have a short meeting to go to. Then I will go to David's house because his mom wanted to have a birthday dinner for me. That was so sweet of her especially since my parents have moved to Washington state.

Well here's hoping this year will bring me prosperity.

One last side note: David and I have been going out for 11 months now and things are going great.

2:38 pm - St. Louis Weekend
Just thought I would do a post on my trip to St. Louis this past weekend.

I left very early on Fri. Saw the fires downtown as I was going over the bridge into AK. The drive was uneventful. It's a straight shot from Memphis to St. Louis.

I got into St. Louis around 11:30a. Then my sister, nephew and I headed out to Columbia to see Jennifer and Catherine. We got there around 1o. and hung out at the mall until Jen got there around 3:30. We went to Shakespeare’s pizza and met Andrew for dinner.

I must say Catherine is such a cute baby. I took a bunch of pictures with my sister's new digital camera.

On Sat. my sister, nephew and I had lunch at the Galleria in Clayton and then went to the St. Louis zoo. It was a lot of fun. I had worn a sweat shirt but it was too hot for that so I ended up buying a t-shirt at the zoo. That evening I took my nephew over to Christina's house and we had dinner over there. Cole and Anna had a good time playing with each other.

I left on Sunday after church and breakfast at St. Louis Bread Co. Oh how I miss that. I did get some bagels and hazelnut cream cheese to take home with me.

Well more later. Hope everyone is well.

10:22 pm - Life Changes
Life is full of changes and mine has definitely been full of them lately. As I mentioned in my last post my sister and nephew had moved to St. Louis and My parents were moving to Vancouver, WA.

Well I have been in my brothers house for a week now. So far the dog and I are adjusting. I think I forgot to mention last time that I was keeping my parent's dog Angel. So far things are fine. My brother and I go our own ways. With all the changes that have gone on it's nice to know that he is around. We're not the closest but maybe this will give us a chance to get closer.

Anyway my sister came into town last Thursday to help my parents finish getting ready for the move. They all left Sat evening after we all had dinner. My sister drove them up to St. Louis and they flew out of there on Sun. So far I think my mom likes it.

More changes will come when I finally land a full-time job again. Today I interviewed with the Catholic diocese for teaching and subbing. Now my name will be added to the list and I'll wait to hear from the principals about any open positions or subbing jobs.

I also have an interview tomorrow with Pinnacle airlines. It's for a Communications Coordinator position. Once that is done it is in God's hands as to which job I get.

This weekend I will be in St. Louis this weekend. I wanted to see my sister. Plus I'm going to go to Columbia on Fri to see Jennifer and the new baby.

Well more later.

10:23 pm - Update Time
Time for an update.

Well things have been busy the past couple of weeks. On Sept. 17 my sister and nephew moved to St. Louis. Then last weekend my parents and I moved my stuff from their house into storage and to my brother's house. I'll be staying with him until I get settled into a full-time job. This week my parents have been getting ready to move. The movers will pack everything on Thurs and load the truck on Fri. My sister and Cole will be coming into town to drive my parents to St. Louis on Sat. My parents will fly to Portland on Sun.

On the job front I have no major news. I have a few resumes in for some PR job leads that I'd gotten within the past week or two. Also yesterday I dropped my application and resume off at the Catholic diocese for subbing or teaching. I got a call today and set up an interview with the Asst. Superintendent for next Wed. I guess it is in God's hand now as to what direction I go in.

Tonight I had a meeting for a committee I am on for PRSA. It is for the awards banquet they have in the spring. David's sister Stephanie is the Chair of the committee.

Well that's it more latter.

9:31 pm - Changes, Changes, Changes
Well things are still status quo on the job front.

With that said I bet you're wondering what my heading means. Well here's the scoop.

My parents sold their house and will be moving permanently to Portland, OR at the end of the month. With no full-time job this means I can not afford my own apartment so I will be moving in with my brother for a short while. (I hope. I know he does.) My sister and nephew are also moving, but not to Portland. This weekend they will be moving to St. Louis. I will miss them both a lot. But hey I guess this just give me another good reason to come up more often.

I have also been doing a lot of soul searching when it comes to my career future. I feel it may be time to give up pursuing a PR/Marketing job and focus on something else. I believe that God gives us free-will so we can make our own choices. I also believe that if you get off your path God will lead you back to it. If you are trying to one thing and God keeps leading you somewhere else it is a good bet that God is trying to tell you something.

All that just to say I am seriously looking into becoming a teacher in the Catholic school system. I can teach and work towards certification at the same time. I went to the Diocesan office today and got the application. It's the same for teaching and subbing. I also changed my resume to focus on my teaching/childcare experience. All I need to do now is get my transcripts sent from Fontbonne and University of Memphis. Once I get those I will take them, my application and resume back to the office and see what happens.

I had my first PRE class this past Sunday. It went really well and I realized how much I missed it. That is one of the reasons I started thinking seriously about teaching full-time. Today I had to go through the Viritus training so I am well prepared to go into teaching.

Anyway I hope all is well with everyone else. I'll keep you updated on any further developments.

6:22 pm - Update
So far it's still the status quo. I'm still babysitting. I also started working at a little gift shop. I enjoy that. I would stay there if I was paid more. Anyway still waiting to hear about a few job leads.

Yesterday I decided that I wanted to get back to teaching Sunday school at my church. I haven't done it since I moved back because I didn't know where life was taking me. At this point I feel I'm going to stay in Memphis and I really feel called to do this. I will be teach third grade.

Finally, I want to say congratulations to my friends Jennifer and Andrew who are the proud parents of their new daughter Katherine. Jennifer called me last night to let me know. Katherine was born around 5:30 on Saturday. She is 8lbs 10oz and 21 in long. I wish this new family lots of luck.

8:08 pm - Too Long
I know it has been well over a month since I gave posted. I really need to get better at posting more often. I mean that is the point of this journal. To document my life.

Anyway things are still status quo. Still no job, still living at home.

The highlight of my summer was my annual trip to Buffalo at the beginning of July. We usually go up that time of year, but what made it special this year was a family reunion on my Dad's side of the family. A lot of my Mom's family is still in the Buffalo area, but my Dad's family is more spread out. Also there are huge age gaps between be and my cousins on that side. I have cousins that are almost 50 (1 or 2 might actually be that old.)

Anyway we had the reunion at a state park on Lake Erie. It was a lot of fun. We all cooked out and visited. My Aunt Karen and Uncle Marty from CA were there. My Uncle Ron from Vegas actually came. I was surprised because I hadn't seen him in 15 yrs. The last time I saw him I was in 7th grade right before my family moved to Memphis. Also several of his kids came so it was good to see them.

David and I have now been together eight months. It was Monday and we went out for a nice dinner and to a movie. We went to this great fish restaurant called Bonefish. It was great. Then we saw The Night Listener. I found it interesting, but David didn't really like it.

Things are good with David, but we have been going through a difficult time lately. I guess that is just part of being in a relationship. You have your ups and downs. We are working through our issues and I know we can make things happen. I love him and will do what it takes to make it work. This is just new to me.

Anyway this has been long enough. I do have an interview lined up and a couple of applications pending so I will keep everyone posted on any job news.

3:23 pm - Long Overdue Update
Well it has been way too long. A lot has been going on in my life and there have been changes. I will try to catch you up as quickly as possible.

For starters I am no longer at Lifeblood. I left at the begginning of April and have been out of work ever since. Long story short I had been give extar duties that took away from my recruiting and they decided my skills weren't the best fit for the position.

I have had many intervies but have not gotten a job offer as of yet. I have had two interviews at a company called Accredo NovaFactor. They have not made a decision as of yet. I plann to follow-up with them on Mon. I have also interviewed in Tunica with Harrah's and have not heard anything. Yesterday I had an interview with Baptist Memorial Healthcare. They have sevearl hospitals in the area. I should hear next week if they want to schedula a second interview.

In the meantime I have gone back to working as a nanny for Annie's Nannies. I have also been doing some freelace work for my boyfriend's older sister. She has her own PR company and works out of her house.

Things between David and myself are going really well. We have been together about six and a half monthes. Who knows a ring may come in the not too distant future. It is something we have talked about.

Another change is I got out of my lease a month early and moved back home. I don't know how long I'll be there since my parents are moving to Portland and will be putting the house up for sale in the next couple of weeks. Hopefully I will have a job before they sell the house.

Anyway that is a very brief overview on what has been going on in my life.

7:11 pm - Time For An Update
Hey everyone just thought I was due for an update.

Anyway things are going well at work. Still keeping busy. The t-shirt process has been working smoother. I also have continued to work with groups and things are going well. In fact nect Sat (feb. 11) I have two drives with Saturn. Each year around Valentines day all the Saturn dealerships in the USA have blood drives. I have been working with the two dealerships in town to plan theirs. So far I think things are under control. My department also had a new Community Partner Liaison start this week. She was a PR intern last semester so I'm glad they hired her.

My friend Kimberly has been in town these past couple of weeks so my friend Becky and I have gone out with her quite a bit. This has meant more late nights and drinking then I'm used to but it sure has been fun. Both Kimberly and Becky have met David and really like him. I gues the next step will be for him to meet my parents. My dad will be in town for a week starting next weekend so we will probably work something out then.

Until next time.

9:16 pm - Way Too Long
Oh my gosh. It has been way too long since I've updated. I've been on the site to read my friends updates but just never made myself update my own journal. I realize this isn't fair and I want to apologize to all my journal friends.

There have been a variety of reasons. Mainly work and a new relationship. Yes I mentioned a new relationship. I'm actually am seeing someone pretty seriously. I've been seeing him almost two months now.

Let me start with work and then I'll go back to the new relationship. Work is going well. In December my supervisor, myself, the Marketing Coordinator and Marketing Director created a new process for getting t-shirts requested for groups and too the actual drives. Basically I became more involved in the process and took responsibility for getting the t-shirt requests from the other recruiters and packing the t-shirts up. It has taken some time to get things running smoothly and there have been many moments of frustration. Mainly the fact that there was no space to store t-shirts. The closet we had was so full that if I needed t-shirts from that closets I had to move about 10 boxes out of the closet just to get at them. I think thinks are finally going to be getting better. We moved into a new space today, which gives us more time. So I spent all afternoon today helping inventory what was in that closet and getting a count of those shirts. On the upside work has been going well. I've gotten several of my groups scheduled for drives this year. A few of them have scheduled multiple drives for the year. Others have committed to having more than one drive and wanted to schedule them one at a time.

Ok. On to the more interesting topic: My new relationship. For almost two months I have been seeing this guy named David. (2-month anniversary will be on Feb. 7). This is the David that is 35 and works in retail (he had a birthday since I first mentioned him). I met him online at Catholic Match.com. We first met at Starbucks and the rest is history. He is so sweet and spoils me rotten. On our second date he gave me two white roses and I got a dozen roses for our one-month anniversary. He's also burned me two CDs, bought me the Phantom of the Opera soundtrack from the movie and sent me cookies at work. I've met quite a bit of his family al ready and they are great. I'm not sure where this is going to go at this point. All I can say is I like him a lot and he is really special to me. I am open to whatever God has planned for this relation ship.

Well I think thats enough for one night. I will do my best to try to update more frequently.

8:58 pm - Happy Thanksgiving and a Brief Update
I'll start with the update first. Things have been going well at work. I found out on Monday that I would be moving from my current workspace to an office that I will share with the other two Community Partner Liaisons. I've known the move was a possibility for a while so I don't mind at all.

I had a good birthday. I'm 27 now and can't believe it. In three years I'll hit the dreaded 30. I spent the weekend with my family and we celebrated my birthday the Sat. before. On my actual birthday my friend Becky and I made fondue and rented a couple of movies.

Now I want to take a moment to say Happy Thanksgiving to all you out there in LJ land. I hope you all enjoy the holiday. Keeping in the spirit of Thanksgiving I would like to take a moment to give thanks and mention a few things I am thankful for this year.

1. my faith
2. my family
3. my friends
4. my job
5. my health
6. my apartment

It had been a rough year while I was looking for my job and I couldn't have made it through without the support and encouragement of my family and friends. I also couldn't have made it through with out my faith in God. When things got tough I could always turn to him and know that he had a plan for me. I am extremely thankful for my job. It has allowed me to become truly independent once again. While it was not the original job I interviewed for I truly believe it is the job I am supposed to be it.

On that not I will close and once again wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving.

1:21 pm - Some More Catch Up
Sorry it took a little longer than expected to get back for another catch up update.

As I stated in my last entry things have been busy at work and I've had been sick so I hadn't updated in a while. Here are some of the more interesting things that have been going on:

1. I saw my 1st opera on 10/27. It was Sampson and Delilah. It was in French but there were English subtitles. I enjoyed it. I went with this Arts group I joined in September. We get together once a month and experience a different art form. It's a lot of fun.

2. On 10/22 I went to the opening of this new mall out by my parents house to see Scott Grimes give a concert (don't laugh). He also plays Dr. Morris on ER. The concert was good. I bought his CD and was able to get it autographed.

I've also done quite a bit of babysitting so that money is nice. I've continued to go to Theology on Tap (ended this past Sunday) and found the speakers to be quite interesting.

I've even been talking to a couple of guys and getting to know them. They are both named David (I didn't plan it that way). One is in retail and the other one is a pharmacist. I met the one in retail on CatholicMatch.com, he's 34. We've talked on the phone on and off for a little more than a month, but he hasn't said anything about meeting. The other David I actually met a couple weeks ago when I went out to dinner with the Young Adult Group at the cathedral. We had a good conversation that night. It turns out he is also on CathlicMatch.com. We started emailing and have been emailing for about a week now. I also saw him this past Sunday at Theology on Tap. After the talk was done we talked for at least an hour. We'll see what happens. I am open to whatever God has in store for me. Right now I'm having fun and enjoying the ride.

More later.

3:30 pm - Way Behind
I know it has been quite a while since I've updated. There have been a variety of reasons for that (work, laziness and being sick).

Work continues to keep me quite busy. I have more groups now so I am getting more drives scheduled. Also it is health fair season so I've had to work a couple of those. At. least I get comp hours when I work a weekend or evening. I can use those hours instead of PTO (paid time off). I will probably take the day before and after Thanksgiving off. Also a couple of weeks ago our Education Coordinator left the company so my boss and I have been helping out with some of those accounts.

In addition to being busy at work for a couple of weeks in October I was not feeling well and swore I had mono. I don't think it was because I feel much better already, but for a couple of weeks all I wanted to do was sleep in the evening. It started with a sinus infection at the end of September and I was put on antibiotics. I was just about done with then and the 2nd weekend in Oct. I was achy, tired and running a fever (not flu achy, at least I don't think so), but I still went to work and baby-sat (not the smartest idea). Well on Monday I went back to the doctor and she felt it was a virus but because I've had high blood pressure she wanted to do some blood work. Well a few days later I got a call from the nurse saying my lipids were elevated and my liver enzymes were abnormal which could indicate hepatitis. I had to go back to the doctor to give more blood and those results showed I did not have hepatitis, but I have to go back in a few weeks to have my liver enzymes rechecked. I have been taking my allergy medicine, but I still feel stuffy and that my ears are plugged. I think instead of going back to my general practitioner I will go see an Ear, Nose and Throat doctor now that I have insurance.

I know this has been long so I'll stop now. I will update later tonight or tomorrow with some fun stuff that I've done recently.

2:47 pm - My Weekend
This weekend was pretty busy.

Friday night I met my mom, sister and nephew at this deli chain called McAllister’s. They have great sandwiches and these huge baked potatoes. I decided on bacon and cheese baked potatoes. It was great.

After dinner we went up to church and signed in for the walk. We walked about two miles. My nephew even walked with us. We did however have to make a short stop at the playground so he could go down the slide.

Got up at the but crack of dawn on Saturday so I could work the health fair they have. The fair went well. I got a few people to sign-up for the blood drive that is scheduled on the 16th. There will be more sign-up next week after all masses. After the health fair was over my family and I walked another couple of miles before going to lunch at On the Border.

We ended up not going to the Midsouth Fair yesterday. We decided it would be too much money. Instead my mom, sister, nephew and I went to Buffalo Wild Wings for lunch and then went to Target.

1:11 pm - Quick Update
Just finishing a lunch break so I thought I'd give a quick update.

I'm taking a training class on the program ACT that we are installing at work. There is a group of us that are taking the class. It's one of those all day classes. So far it's been interesting.

This weekend my church is having their annual 24 hr walk so I'll be up there tonight and tomorrow. Actually tomorrow I'll be working at their health fair for Lifeblood.

Then tomorrow night I have to baby-sit. On Sunday I'm trying to talk my mom and sister in going to the Mid South Fair. It ends that day so I'd like to go.

Anyway it will be a busy weekend.

4:09 pm - Wow-Twice in one week
It's been a slow afternoon so I though I'd write a short update.

Work is fine as usual. I had to go to a drive today. There was some mix-up on the directions and the crew got there late. I was planning to visit anyway so when the mix-up happed I decided to go out there right away and I ended up staying the whole time. The drive only went until 1 so I left about 12:45 and got back to the office about 1:15. I stopped to get lunch on the way.

Went over to my mom's house yesterday. Her cousin from NY was in town on business so we met him for dinner at Corky's and went to the house to visit. It was great to see him.

I plan to catch up on some housework tomorrow. Then I have to baby-sit in the late afternoon to late evening. I'll probably meet my sister at church on Sun and then go over to my moms' house for a while. In the evening I have theology on tap.

Well I hope everyone has a good weekend.

1:26 pm - Quick Update
Just thought I'd take a moment to update since it's been a week (see I'm getting better).

My weekend was busy. Had some work done on my car which cost a fortune. Babysat for twin girls Sat night and Sun. afternoon. They were so cute.

Work is keeping me busy but I like it that way. I even worked a health fair Sat morning.

On Monday I went out with my friend Becky to celebrate her birthday which was last Wed. We Got dessert and ate it on the roof of the Peabody Hotel while we watched the sun set. Then we went to Pat O'Briens and had hurricanes. They were great.

Stayed up late last night talking to this guy I met on CatholicMatch.com. We've talked on the phone a couple of times now. We haven't met yet but we'll see where it goes.

Well I have to get back to work.

2:54 pm - I'm Back
The Prodigal Writer returns.

I know it’s been a while. Things have been going well for me. The wedding in New York was fun. It was great to see old friends.

Things have been going well at work. Things have also been busy. We've had a lot of groups wanting to schedule blood drive since Katrina hit. I've scheduled several myself. In addition to that we have launched a program at FedEx and will be going out to several of their sites. So between those two things scheduling drives has been quite a challenge.

I've also been doing quite a bit of babysitting recently. I'll still take some jobs from the Nanny agency I worked for before getting my job at Lifeblood. I'm trying to keep it down to one night a week and one weekend night. It doesn’t always happen that way but the extra money will be nice.

I also started going to this group called Theology on Tap that meets every other Sunday. We meet a restraint/bar called Fox and Hound and we have a different speaker every time. This past Sunday was the 2nd time. I've enjoyed it and have even had the chance to meet some people my age.

Anyway I'm still at work-just taking a break-so I better sign off.

Stephen congrats on your apartment. I'm sorry that it is overdue. I hope all is going well.
